Sammakka-Sarakka Jatara starts today
Formally, the Endowments Department had recognised concurrent jataras and 42 mini in various portions of the district. Furthermore, the jataras would also be held in 41 added places in the district.(Feb 17 to 20)
The primary parallel Sammakka-Sarakka jataras would be held on the outskirts of Karimnagar town, Goliwada in Godavarikhani, Husnabad, Odela, Manakondur, Shankarpatnam, Manthani, Huzurabad, Bheemadevarapalli and other 24 mandals in Chintakunta and Rekurthi.
On the outskirts of Karimnagar town, the endowments department had colourfully decorated the stages (gaddelu) where the Goddesses Sammakka and Sarakka would be placed during the jatara for the devotees to worship at Rekurthi and Chintakunta. The local organisers also have made arrangements for the jatara.
The jatara would start on Wednesday with the local tribal priests getting the tribal goddesses from nearby hillocks in a boat filled with vermillion and turmeric powder and covered with red cloth and placed at the stages. The devotees worship the goddesses by offering jaggery, coconuts, bangles, sarees, animal sacrifices, etc.
In the meantime, the small-time dealers also have erected their booths to sell various products for the advantage of pilgrims visiting the jatara place.
The district authorities machines also geared up for the smooth conduct of jatara at all the locations in the district. The authorities deployed more than 2,000 police employees for the bandobust at all the jatara places. and also had decided to install CCTVs at significant jatara places to restrain crime
